Chrome Replace Firefox on Ubuntu?

Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Canonical makes Ubuntu Linux, recently saying that Firefox will be shifted his role in the world of Ubuntu by Google Chrome. Shuttleworth said that he was a great admirer of Google Chrome and is very possible that Canonical will replace Firefox as the default browser to Chrome Ubuntu.

Google Chrome is said to almost be the default browser for Ubuntu applications 11:10 which will be released next October but it was canceled and it was decided to use Firefox in this version. Chrome will not replace Firefox 12:04 which will be out next April 2012 as the edition is a version of LTS (long term support) which means there will be no major changes are incorporated.

Mark Shuttleworth also said that Google's efforts to make Chrome the OS has a positive impact on the performance of Chrome on Linux. This makes Chrome and Chrome on Ubuntu Linux to become the best browser application compared to those installed in other platforms.

Chrome is expected to replace Firefox as the default browser in 2012. For Ubuntu users who prefer Firefox still can download it via the repository, but if the replacement step is happening then this will be a positive signal for the development of Chrome.
